Annie Jackson Blair, (Ann) was born in Camden, Alabama on July 4 th , 1933, to the late Richard Taylor, Jackson and Arlene Higginbottom, Jackson. Ann was the baby of four siblings who proceeded her in death. All her siblings passed in the order that they were born. David Lee (Bessie May), Fannie Hendon (Steven), Willie Tripp (Eileen) and Maggie Tyrus (Asberry). Ann attended school in Alabama. After her high school graduation, she traveled to Philadelphia to visit with her sister Fannie Hendon. During that bus ride Ann met her late husband, Willie Blair, and after dating, he traveled to Alabama to ask her parents for permission to marry Annie. This reunion took place September 5, 1953 in Sumter South Carolina. Willie and Ann went on to have six beautiful children, Michael and Marvin Blair who proceeded her in death. Larry Blair, June Terry (Brian), Sadie Lomax (Raymond) and Bryant Blair (Rhonda). Ann and her family joined Open Door Baptist church, where they worshiped under Reverend B. F. Johnson until his death. Ann and her husband were active members and yes, all six of their children were in church every Sunday. Ann was a member of the Inspirational choir and served as a Deaconess while her husband served on the Trustee board. Ann then moved her membership to The Christian Church in Philadelphia under the late Gordon S. Houston. There she was part of the birthday club, and she always talked about sister Hunter and her church family. Ann remained an active member under Pastor Alexander Houston until her health began to decline. She continued to receive communion, prayer and scripture readings during the visits from Pastor Houston and members of her church. These visits brighten her up and she looked forward to the next visit. In 1972, Ann decided to enter the workforce after her youngest son attended first grade. Ann started her journey at Whitmarsh nursing Center where caring for other people was her calling. While there Ann graduated and received her nursing assistant's pin. She was one of the 19 women that attended the first class held at the White Marsh Center. The Curriculum consisted of in class studying and practical theory with emphasis on the care of geriatric patients. She continued her journey at Presbyterian Home for the Aged, where she became their foreman president and helped to unionized Presbyterian Home for the Aged. Ann faithfully served elderly residents with kindness and dedication until her retirement in 1998.
Ann leaves to cherish her memory Fourteen Grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. A sister-in-law Bessie May Jackson, Ann's late brother David Lee wife that lives in Cleveland Ohio. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
