Charles Simeon Rickenbacker, 66, of Philadelphia, PA passed away on May 25, 2022 at Einstein Medical Center. Charles was born on February 7, 1956 in Bamberg, South Carolina to Charlie and Hermena Rickenbacker. He was preceded in death by his mother and nephew Justin Rickenbacker. Charles is survived by his father Charlie Rickenbacker(wife Beverly); brother John Ellis Rickenbacker (wife Arlene); Fiance Carolyn Fisher; Daughters Tawana Rickenbacker and Ebony Strother (husband Stephan); Grandsons Dontae Stewart, Devon Stewart, Jayden Stewart, and Mason Strother; Nephew Akil Cook and niece Siena Scriven Charles, a lifelong resident of Philadelphia, was raised in North Philly. He attended Thomas Edison High School where he was a stand out student. After graduation in 1975, he entered the United States Navy. Charles was honorably discharged in 1978. Charles was formerly married to Valarie Johnson and they had two daughters Tawana and Ebony. He had various jobs over the years including American Olean and Tile and Clemmer Moving and Storage. In 2011, he worked at NCO Financial where he worked as a collector. This is where Charles met and fell in love with his fiance, Carolyn Fisher. He worked at NCO for 6 years before accepting a position at Philadelphia Insectarium and Butterfly Pavillion. Charles thoroughly enjoyed his work there and would have continued working there had he not fallen ill. Charles will be remembered as the life of the party. He was funny, charismatic and had an infectious laugh. He loved life and family. He was an excellent cook/grill master. He loved sports and was a die hard Eagles fan. Charles will be greatly missed by his family and everyone who had the pleasure of having him in their lives.
