Life Story
Connie Love affectionately known as "Ms.Love" was born on April 1,1956 in Coney Island Hospital, New York City to the late Helen Roberts Jeffcoat and the late John W. Jeffcoat. Connie was adopted by the late Betty Cannon and James Cannon.
Connie attended Clymer Elementary & John Wanamaker Middle School. She went on to work for TV Guide and started her career as a caregiver, at Scoggin Boarding home, were she worked for over 22 years as a caregiver for people who had both medical and mental conditions. She gave medication and prepared meals for her clients, who loved her cooking. Connie clients loved her, especially her cooking. She treated them like family.
Connie was the life of the party at every event; she loved dancing and had no problem speaking her mind. Everybody knew she was "MS. LOVE" and she was always dressed to the nines. You could find MS LOVE at Southern Inn with her chewy club members, Gussie, Wanda & Bunnie toasting it up and dropping it low while talking her mess the whole time. She would let you know quick "men are like a bus; you miss one you catch the next." She never let any grass grow under her feet; MS. LOVE lived her life to the fullest. Let's not forget to mention her best friends Shelia Clowney ,Virginia Fasion & Sandra Crawford. She also had a special bond with brother in laws Tony Hines & Eugene Waddy who helped throughout the years …
Connie was known for cooking, especially her homemade bread pudding, coleslaw & cabbage all made from scratch. Everyone knew where to come for a home cooked meal, where no one would be turned away. She opened her home and heart to her family and friends without a question. We are all going to miss MS. LOVE.
Connie married her first husband Glen Love. She then divorced and married her 2nd husband Jimmy Dawson They later separated, and she met her lifelong sweetheart Jerry Scovers Which they were together for over 30+ years.
And from these 3 unions 12 children were born
Glen, Katerina, Barberann, Jerry, Tykeda, Gary, Edward, Connie, James, Derrick, Jama, Helen, and, Lawrence….She loved all her children in her own special way no two relationships were the same …
Connie had 34 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grands and a host of nieces and nephews. We all know Connie had 3 favorite niece's which each of them thought they were the favorite starting with Maineva, Shakira and Myiesha (who shares the same Birthday as Connie)
Connie was the 2nd oldest of 10 Siblings and the first sibling that passed, Lorraine, Connie, Velma, Johnny, Azzie, Mike, Francis, Kevin, Shanna, and Tonnette.
Connie had 2 favorite sisters, her ride or die Velma and her protector Shanna. But she had a beautiful relationship with all her siblings. Connie was so supportive when it came to her family. She never said, No & gave freely of herself even on her sick bed.
Connie had 4 God children that she loved very much ShanikQue, Xzavier and UnikQue.
She also had a special bond with their mother Tanya as well.
Connie was proceeded by her husband Jimmy Dawson and lifelong love Jerry Scovers, Mother Helen Roberts Jeffcoat, Father John W. Jeffcoat, Adopted Mother Betty Cannon Adopted Father James Cannon Granddaughter Sherrlle Coulter (Who she helped raise) 4th Godson Javier…
Connie leaves to cherish her children Glen, Katerina, Barberann, Jerry, Tykeda, Gary, Edward, Connie James, Derrick, Jama, Helen and Lawrence. Her special granddaughter Julie aka JuJu (who she raised)
Connie lost her battle to stage 4 Throat Cancer on September 20,2025 which, she fought with everything she had.
Connie only wanted for her children to stick together and get along.
