IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Deacon Herbert
Leon Saddler Sr.
February 25, 1936 – June 3, 2025
Obituary Herbert Leon Saddler Sr, was born on February 25, 1936 to the late William and Lillian Saddler in Darby Township, Pennsylvania. He was one of nine siblings; proceeding him in death were William, Lillian, Earl, Marvin, Henrietta, and George. Herbert, affectionately called Deacon Saddler or Deac received his education in the Darby Township Pennsylvania School System. As Deacon journeyed through life he met and married the love of his life Dorothy (who preceded him in death), and from this union they had five children, Herbie, Preston, Andre, Lamont and Tina. In 1967 Herbert accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and joined the Lily of the Valley Faith Bibleway Church (The Valley) under the leadership of the late Pastor Sadie E. Gravely. He later was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Ghost. During his tenure at the Lily of the Valley, Herbert was ordained as Deacon and served full capacity in that role until the Lord called him home. Deacon Saddler later joined the Shekinah Glory Apostolic Church under the leadership of Overseer Gary Shackleford. Deacon Saddler was a family man who truly loved his family, church family and more importantly he loved the Lord. One of his favorite songs was "I really love the Lord". He extended himself to others as a father figure, and took his duties as a Deacon seriously, and many partook in the extension of his labor of love. From cleaning the front of the church during inclement weather, providing transportation to the saints to go back and forth to church, seeing the sick and shut in, and just being a phone call away for all those who needed him. Serving with a compassion and selflessly was a trait Deacon Saddler possessed effortlessly. Deacon loved reading his Bible, watching old western shows, karate movies and his favorite of all Wrestling. Spending time with his family was always a fulfillment for him, along with eating Peach Tastykake pies, Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream and Tootsie Roll Pops (Taffy Suckers). Deacon Saddler leaves to mourn his five children: Bishop Herb Saddler Jr (LaShawn), Minister Preston Saddler (Cheryl), Andre Saddler, Deacon Lamont Saddler (Marcia), Tina Saddler, daughter-in-law Gwen Saddler, two sisters, Rosanna Dickerson, Paulette Wilson (Timothy), two sister-in-law, Sarah Baker, Sharon Taylor, one brother-in-law, Jay Kitt, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Two God-daughters, Nina Knight, Adrienne Hughes, and One God-son, Cedric Warner. A special thanks to our Lily of the Valley Family, Evangelist Cynthia Casey, Elder Gary & Rosalind Shackelford & Family, Elder Olivia Knight & Big Izzy & Family, Dr Diane Warner & Family, Bishop Arie Davis Family, The Wortham Family, The Sidberry Family, The Bussey Family, Bishop Jimmie & Mother Smith, and Qwanetta "Kitt" Carter & Rivera Family.
