Deborah Azore was a woman of boundless faith, love, and charisma. She was born on October 4, 1962, to Edgar and Gloria Wingfield in Newark, New Jersey. As the second-youngest child among 10 siblings, she was affectionately referred to as “Boo Boo.”

During her early childhood years, Deborah and her family relocated from Newark, New Jersey, to Southwest Philadelphia, eventually settling in the Nicetown section of the city. She would often charismatically refer to Nicetown as her “stomping grounds.” Throughout her 63 years, she touched many lives with her caring nature, humor, and unwavering spirit of perseverance.

Driven by a compelling thirst for independence and a passion for becoming a cosmetologist, Deborah graduated from Simon Gratz High School in 1980 and later attended Gordon Phillips Beauty School. She possessed an intense love for family and relationships. Throughout her life, she shared special loving relationships with Westley Hayward, Gerald Hanible, and Daouda Conde, whom she married. She gave birth to two daughters and four sons.

Later in life, Deborah met her husband, Philip Azore. Together, they fostered many children and later adopted two daughters. Deborah’s ability to inspire others and overcome challenges made her a true inspiration to her children and all those dear to her.

Among the many milestones of her well-lived life, Deborah took great pride in becoming an active member of her church. She often spoke about the immense spiritual healing and profound sense of belonging she experienced as a congregant. She could often be seen bursting into dance, lifting her hands to the sky in praise and worship. “God is good,” she would proclaim. “All the time!”

The words of Holy Scripture remained in her heart as she ministered God’s love to others. Her love for children led her to a position with the School District of Philadelphia, where she worked one-on-one with children with special needs. She fully immersed herself in her work, often going above and beyond, much to the appreciation of her students and colleagues.

Deborah was also an active member of her community. As a block captain, she hosted numerous special events and giveaways for the children in her neighborhood. She had an equal love for dancing. Her fun, flashy outfits, combined with her infectiously upbeat personality, made her the life of every party she attended.

She was a masterful cook and baker who generously shared her delights as another expression of love.

Deborah’s legacy of love, perseverance, and humility will be carried forward by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Wingfield; her father, Edgar Wingfield; her sister, Suzanne Sydnor; and her brother, Wayne Wingfield.

She is survived by her husband, Philip Azore; her loving children, Marlene Siple, Theresa Washington, Gerald Hanible, Michael Hanible, Ousman Conde, Azia Roberts, Aniyah Azore, and Muhamed Conde; son-in-law, Charles Washington; daughter-in-law, Lauren Hanible; 16 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Her remarkable life will forever serve as an inspiration and a testament to the power of an indomitable spirit, a kind heart, and enduring resilience.

Her selflessness, warmth, and generous spirit will be remembered forever. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that lives on in all who knew her. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
