Erma's obituary:

Erma Lee (Sally) Ellis was born on March 15, 1940 in Clarksdale, MS to her loving parents Curtis and Essie Ellis. Six children were born from this union and Erma was the 4th child. Erma's parents, two brothers Curtis Ellis Jr. and Floyd Stevie Ellis, sisters Earlene Washington, Bernice Megginson, and Mattie Brownlow, sons Antonio (Tony) Ellis and Antone Ellis have all preceded her in death.

Erma loved life and her family. Erma helped her family by babysitting many of her nieces and nephews and eventually their children. Erma would even in some cases help her sisters to raise their children, that's how much she loved her family. Erma worked in the cafeteria at Lorraine Hansberry Elementary School for 10 years where she was affectionately known as "Grandma." Erma, like her sisters, loved to watch Western television shows as well as movies. Erma would often watch horror movies with her daughter, where she would talk through most of the movie trying to guess what the ending would be. Her daughter would say "mom I don't know what's going to happen either just watch."

On August 18, 2024 while sleeping at Tucker House Nursing Home Erma transitioned to her resting place in Heaven, to join the rest of her family. Erma is survived by her daughter Antoinette (Angie) Ellis, sister Ernestine (Pookie) Ellis-Stone, grandson Courage Antonio Ellis and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
