As a young child, her family migrated to Philadelphia, PA. After graduating, she attended nursing school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse.
During her nursing career, she was a former head nurse at John E. Kennedy Memorial Hospital. She also worked at Harston Hall nursing home and did private duty nursing. Due to her illness, she was unable to continue working in the field of nursing.
Harvie Mae enjoyed volunteering at her niece's daycare center, serving other and was a mother to many. Her home was open to anyone who was in need. She was an avid reader who loved discussing politics and current events. She enjoyed science fiction and martial arts movies.
