Obituary
Kathleen Johnson
Kathleen Pierce was born on February 14, 1946, to Manley C. Pierce and Margaret H. Pierce in Philadelphia, pa. She was the oldest of five children. She grew up in that household until the age of 14 years. Kathleen then moved into the home of her grandmother in Southern Philadelphia suburb of Elmwood. Kathleen attended public school at the location. She then later moved to Baltimore, MD with her son Ralph Taylor. She worked as an IT Specialist with Bethlehem Steel Company for several years. Kathleen later returned to the Philadelphia area.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her sister Lucy Pierce, Barbara Pierce who also lived in the Baltimore area. One brother, Walter Pierce who was killed later in Cambodia, Province.
Kathleen always had a somewhat shy and meek personality but was very intelligent and resourceful. Her kindness led her to become a cargiver to others including her grandmother who had helped to raise her. She left Baltimore after her only child had passed away.
Kathleen is survived by her brother, James Pierce and his family. Several cousins of the Harris/Courtney relations and many nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. As well as a noble number of friends and associates. Not least among these are the Certified Medical Assistants who helped to maintain her long life. Crystal Hoagland, Renee Hoagland, Kim Lee, Kim Sturgis and Darci Fitchett who we all greatly appreciate.
Kathleen was recognized as the oldest female at the time of her passing. Her lineage was traced back to 1792 in Hallscross Rds, Maryland. This family became freed black citizens before 1832.
