Obituary

Obituary for Lydia McNear July 25, 1958 – May 29,2025 Lydia McNear was born on July 25, 1958, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Gertrude Edwards and Earl Eugene Edwards. She was educated in the Philadelphia school system. Lydia married to John Randy McNear, with whom she shared 53 beautiful years of marriage and together they raised three children. Lydia was a devoted mother, a caring wife, and a woman known for her warm and giving spirit. She had a passion for caring for others, especially her children. Lydia enjoyed simple pleasures—watching crime shows, smoking her weed, and speaking her mind without hesitation. Her honesty was her hallmark, whether you wanted to hear it or not. Despite her personal health battles, Lydia's caring nature never wavered. She was on dialysis, courageously fighting kidney failure. In the final days of her life, she spent her time selflessly caring for her late boyfriend, Kenneth Rivers, who was in hospice care. She remained by his side until his final breath on June 26, even as her own health declined. Lydia passed away just days later, a true testament to her devotion and the deep love she had for others. She never stopped giving—her strength, compassion, and faith were unmatched. Lydia was God-fearing, tough as nails, and soft as cotton. Her illness progressed quickly, and she was only in the hospital for one day before the Lord called her home. Lydia leaves behind her beloved husband of 53 years, John Randy McNear; her son, Lamont McNear; her middle daughter, Sebrina McNear; and her youngest daughter, Lydia McNear (her namesake). Lydia was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jaquel and Latoya McNear, and is survived by her grandchildren: Andrea, Sierra, Ladae, Marquise, Sahbri, Briontae, Quadira, Damont, Jamel, Courtnie, Selena, Brianna, Sabria, Nasir, and Marleena Leaving behind a Legacy of 19+ Great Grandchildren whom she loved more than anything in the world. She also leaves behind two sisters, Justina and Sharon; three brothers— Curtis, Jeffrey, and Frank. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends; one niece in particular that she looked to as her own daughter Taliya Edwards and her children Hailey, Hannah and Halo as her grandchildren Lydia was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. Her legacy of love, strength, and unwavering care for others will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
