On March 4, 2024, Mabel Ruth Hayes Haynes was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 84. She was born on October 10, 1939 in Goldsboro, North Carolina to the late Colin and Estella Hayes. Mabel was baptized at an early age and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She was one of eight siblings. Mabel was raised in Philadelphia, PA when her family relocated from Goldsboro, North Carolina in 1942. She was educated in the Philadelphia public school system and graduated with honors from Simon Gratz High School in 1957. Following her high school graduation, Mabel immediately enrolled in the Apex Beauty School and successfully graduated from the program in 1959 with a certificate in Cosmetology. Shortly after her graduation in 1959, she became a licensed Pennsylvania Cosmetologist. Mabel went on to work for several hair salons in Philadelphia, PA and later established her own hair salon in North Philadelphia, PA. She was married to the late Bernard Haynes, Sr. Mabel was the mother of two sons, the late Bernard Haynes, Jr. and Steven Fitzgerald Hayes. Mabel enjoyed cooking a nice meal for her family, making her clients feel beautiful when they sat in her beautician chair, family gatherings and trips, reading her bible and watching her favorite television shows from the comforts of her extra beautician chair located in her home. Mabel leaves to cherish in her memory: Son Steven Fitzgerald Hayes. Sisters: Theresa Poe (Gary), Carolyn Dozier (Brian) and Carlene Hayes Mayo (Mitchell). Brother: Clifton Hayes. Grandchildren: Bernard Haynes, Brittany Haynes, Brian Haynes and Brandy Haynes. Daughter-in-law: Renee Haynes. Great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, close relatives and friends. She joins her parents Colin and Estella Hayes, son Bernard Haynes, Jr. and siblings: Alice Marie Hayes, John Earl Hayes and Jimmie Hayes in eternal rest. We will always love and miss you!
