Obituary

Ann was born as Margie "Ann" Burroughs on August 1, 1963, to the late Margaret Mack and the late Willie Burroughs at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. Ann was their first born. Although she was born as Margie, everyone called her "Ann". Ann started her education in Brooklyn, NY. Ann became a mother at a young age. In 1980, at the age of 15 she gave birth to her first born, her one and only son Kevin, in New York City. July of 1981, Ann gave birth to her pride and joy Yolanda in Houston, Texas. On July 24, 1981, Ann married the love of her life the late Gregory Pittman. They were not done yet, July of 1982, Ann gave birth to their baby girl Latoya in Frankfurt, Germany. She was then complete. Ann traveled as a military wife with her family. It wasn't easy leaving home at such a young age. She had to adapt to being away from her siblings Willie, Renee, Audrey and Duane. Despite the distance, they were still able to embrace their love unconditionally. In 1992, Ann and her family moved to Philadelphia, PA. 726 W. Wingohocking street was the place she called home and she loved it. Ann carried a big heart, that many families welcomed her

with open arms. Some of the Wingohocking families that was so dear to her heart were Ms. Carol & family, Elaine & family, Mousie & the Herbert Family and many from Franklin Street. Her besties Lisa and Rita who she lost along the way are celebrating her victory with open arms. She loved spending and having a good time with everyone. If she was there, you would know it. Ann loved dancing and listening to some good music. Songs like "Step in the name of love" & "Started from the bottom" would have her in the middle of any dance floor. She loved her slow jams too. Especially music by "Blue Magic" & the "Stylistics". She also loved to cook for her family and friends. Her fried chicken and potato salad was her most popular. Ann maintained a profession at Popeyes, KFC, Skin by Denise and most memorable braiding hair. In 1996, Ann was blessed with her first grandson Yhari. Although she was a young grandmother, she still maintained to raise her kids along with her grandson. In 2006, she was blessed with two more grandchildren Taniyah and Mariah. And her family continued to grow to a total of 8 grands and 1 great grand Ava. The amount of love she had for them were remarkable. They were all the center of her heart. Ann loved spending time at her children's house, especially

during the holidays. She also loved traveling to NY to spend time with her little big cousin Tuyshwa whom she loved so much. Ann had a big heart and wasn't afraid to speak her mind. She would cuss you out and speak to you the next day. She would say "How you doin?" in her own unique way with a smile. There was no shame in her game. That's what we all loved about her. When she showed up, she was "Ann"! And she would always remind us with her favorite phrase "I'm Ann Pittman, what part don't you understand"! If you were lucky, she would spell it out for you. She was the life of the party. If you really knew her, you loved her. The good and bad. Those memories will forever be cherished Ann started her battle with cancer in mid-2000's. She fought without any of our knowledge. She was so private and didn't want anyone to worry. She was so strong as she continued to fight and live her life to the fullest. In 2021, Ann lost the love of her life. The late Gregory Pittman. She was so lost without him. They had a special bond that was out this world. He was her rock and made sure she was ok even when things weren't ok between them. Ann made sure her family stayed together even if it was sacrificing her own happiness. That's who she was. As you can imagine it wasn't easy, but she dealt

with it in her own way. During her most vulnerable time, cancer found its way back into her body. She fought until she couldn't fight anymore. God called her home peacefully the morning of June 27, 2022, with her sister Renee by her side. No more fear! No more pain! No more suffering. Ann was comforted and visited by her children, family and loved ones in her last moments. Ann knew she was loved. She will truly be missed by all family and friends.

Ann leaves to mourn her 3 children Kevin Burroughs (Latisha) Yolanda Pittman and Latoya Pittman-Clowney (Quindelle), 8 grandchildren Yhari (Alicia), Taniyah, Mariah, Emiyah, C'yani, Kevin Jr., Asiyah & Cynai, 1 great grand Ava, 2 sisters Renee Hinton & Audrey Burroughs, 1 brother Willie Burroughs Jr. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends who she loved so much.
