IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marion
Morton
June 29, 1928 – September 8, 2019
,Marion D, Morton affectionately known to all that loved her as "Gram," was born on June 29, 1928 to the late William Dennis, and Clementine Cane. She received her formal education from the Philadelphia school system where she graduated from Roxborough High School in 1946. One of only three African American graduates along with Mildred Durham (Ms. Benn) and John Wright.
Marion worked at Fairmount Farms in food service and worked in the garment industry as a piece worker at American Pants Factory and Wanner Brod Pants Factory. This must have been a position she truly enjoyed and was dedicated to because as she lay in bed, at the age of 91 years old, she made sure that her pieces were done to perfection.
Marion stayed active throughout her life, traveling abroad to countries such as Africa, Spain and throughout the Caribbean. She especially liked traveling on cruise ships and to Las Vegas & Atlantic City.
Marion knew how to make a little go a long way. She managed her money and sacrificed for her family. She was extremely organized and managed her checkbook down to the penny, and if she owed you a nickle you were sure to get if back.
Marion was a twenty-year Breast Cancer Survivor and a very strong woman. She was devoted, loving and kind spirit, but when it came to her grandchildren, they were the joy of her life.
She was preceded in death by her dearest brother, William "Buddy" Dennis and husband Oscar T. Morton. An angel called her home to be with God on "National Grandparent's Day" September 8, 2019. With the love of GOD in her heart and all his angels surrounding her, she left this earth on her was to see JESUS. Marion leaves to cherish many warm memories and lasting love; a beloved daughter Myra Talley,(Lawrence son-in-law), three grandchildren: granddaughter/caregiver and best friend Erika (Jerome), her doting and attentive grandson Lawrence "LT" (Temika), her superman and comic-relief grandson LeVar (Salina), eight great-grandchildren: Dante, Myles, Julian, Emira, LeVar, Lawson, Mayson and Chance. Very close cousin, (like a sister), Viola Harris, sister-in-law/great friend Zadie Johnson, cousin (like a grandson) Cupid Brookins, one nephew Tyrone, one niece Nachet (who proceeded her in death) and many other loving relatives and friends. Marion will be forever remembered, loved and missed.
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." Matthew : (KJV)
