IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Matthew Michael
Selvin
December 1, 1991 – July 7, 2025
The Life Story of Matthew Selvin
Matthew Selvin was born on December 1, 1991, at Spanish Town Hospital, Jamaica. From the very beginning, he exuded a bright spirit—a passionate soul full of joy, curiosity, and adventure. He left behind trails of laughter, inspiration, and memories that those who knew him will forever cherish.
Matthew was the youngest of four children born to his mother, Zelrita Gayle, and the second of four children for his father, Garfield Selvin. As a child, he was energetic, playful, and always full of questions. His educational journey began at Salvation Army Basic School, followed by Mount Friendship Primary, Constant Spring Primary and Junior High, and later Cumberland High School.
After high school, Matthew applied his hands-on talent and became a skilled worker, making small pieces of furniture and honing a craft that would later define his career. But Matthew was never just one thing—he was a man of many talents. He had a deep love for football and was known for his exceptional skills on the field. Equally impressive was his presence on the dance floor, where his natural rhythm and infectious energy would light up any room. A true jack-of-all-trades, Matthew's creativity knew no limits.
In 2011, Matthew experienced a heartbreaking loss with the passing of his beloved mother, Zelrita. This moment became a turning point in his life. Despite the sorrow, he summoned the courage to seek new beginnings, first moving to Trinidad in pursuit of better opportunities. There, he spent a few formative years before eventually migrating to the United States in 2018—a place that would become the backdrop for his next chapter.
On January 16, 2022, Matthew married the love of his life, Shelon—a woman of strength and grace who matched his spirit with unwavering support and love. Together, they built a life filled with warmth, laughter, and companionship, shared not only with each other but with their beloved dog, Son Son, who was more than a pet—he was family, Matthew's "child" in every sense of the word.
An embodiment of hard work and vision, Matthew established his own construction company, Quality God Services LLC, a fitting testament to both his craftsmanship and his faith. Through his business, he brought structures to life, infused with care, quality, and integrity.
Matthew lived boldly, loved deeply, and gave generously. He was a builder—of homes, of dreams, and of community. His memory lives on through the lives he touched, the joy he shared, and the legacy he leaves behind
