Melvin "Clyde" Bootman, born September 15, 1942, in St. John Parish, Barbados, passed away on March 10, 2025, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Melvin was a man of great resilience and determination. At the age of 29, he immigrated to the United States in pursuit of new opportunities. His journey began with humble work picking fruit in New Jersey, a testament to his strong work ethic. He then began apprenticing and later became an electrician. His career progressed as he learned the trade of wiring telephone poles and performing electrical work in private homes. Eventually, he became a respected electrical subcontractor for PECO, contributing to the development of new housing and schools. He was a hardworking man, who was a self-taught electrician. For the past 20 years, Melvin shared a loving home in Germantown with his beloved wife, Yvonne. Their life together was filled with simple joys: attending Mount Olive Baptist Church, cooking delicious meals, and hosting cherished family gatherings during the Christmas holidays. Melvin was a passionate sports enthusiast, enjoyed watching sitcoms, and loved going to the movies. Melvin is survived by his devoted wife, Yvonne, his two daughters, his cherished granddaughter, and his six sisters. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
