Obituary

Rodney Johnson (aka )Shukri, age 65 of Philadelphia,PA born to Kenneth Wilson Sr and late Vera Johnson. He passed away on June 24, 2026 with his lovely wife Cecelia Nixon- Johnson of 29 years right by his side. Rodney & Cecelia were married on July 19, 1997. He showed her love through words, actions, and kindness that will always be etched and whispers in her memories. Rodney was born August 4, 1960. He attended the Philadelphia School System & graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1978.


Rodney was a hard worker and during his time at CHOP where he was employed for 15+years as an Environmental Service employee. While at Chop, Rodney delivered high quality work and faced with challenges, he continued to achieve his goals. He retired from CHOP in 2017. Rodney was known to be loving, supportive, patient and protective. Family was priority in his life. What mattered most was his children, Latiyfa Johnson, Sharonda Nixon and Shavon Williams his lovely daughters. His grandchildren, Michael Wesley Jr, Elijah Wesley, Nolan Wesley, Shanoal McNeil, Noal McNeil, Bryce Leaks and Matthew Payne. His great grands Kwamir Traylor and Khole Traylor. He showed consistent guidance and encouragement to his childrens well being and growth. Rodney was a father & pop-pop that they could rely on.


Rodney was emerged in the Muslim community and later converted to the Nuwaipian community where he served, supported and was a devoted member. He was intricate in the growth of the organization and became an Elder. Thoughout his life, he was compassionate and caring, understanding, with a graceful presence. He was selfless & loyal to family and friends. He had an infinite love for Martial Arts and electronics, and was an extraordinary handyman. An avid Eagles lover like his wife.


His legacy will be out of kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit. It will live in the hearts of this family and friends. Rodney’s gift of love will be forever engraved in the hearts of those who knew him.


Rodney leaves to mourn his loving wife Cecelia (3) daughters, (7) grandchildren (2) grandchildren, (19) siblings, Michelle & Sandy proceeded him in death. Melvin, Greg, Michael (Kat Tat Rae), Eddie, ( Wanda), Janet, Constance, and Kenneth Wilson Jr,

Joyce (d-William),Delores deceased,Katherine (d-Joseph) Diane deceased, Carolyn(Millard), Sharon ( d-Earnest) Juanita, Sandra deceased, (Drakie), Julian ( d-Corrine) Micheal , Clyde, Charles deceased (Etta). and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
