IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rosemary
Mccants
January 23, 1941 – June 25, 2024
Life Story of Rosemary (Montague) McCants
Rosemary (Montague) McCants was born on January 23, 1941, to Katherine and Earl Montague. Rosemary was the middle child amongst her older sister Earline (Toots) Montague, and her younger sister Diane Montague. Rosemary, and her sisters, at a very early age, endured the passing of their mother (Katherine), when she was about 3 years old. Rosemary received her education through the Philadelphia public school system. She attended Kensington High School, but unfortunately due to being involved in an automobile accident her senior year, she was unable to complete her studies, which prevented her from receiving a Diploma. Rosemary never wavered in her education, she was an avid book reader and had amassed a significant collection of various books over the years. She would often read a book rather than watch television. Rosemary met and married Luther McCants. They later had three children, Michael, Terence, and Melissa. Rosemary loved her children and was quite the homemaker, as being available for her family was very important to her. Rosemary temporarily worked as a teacher's aide at Elverson Elementary School. She loved and admired the field of education and had always envisioned becoming a teacher. Rosemary always wanted to help people and believed in public service. She once served as a coordinator with the Philadelphia summer box lunch program for children. Always regretting not having completed her High School Education, Rosemary attended night school at Benjamin Franklin High School in 1981, and obtained her High School Diploma with honors. Rosemary always had a warm and welcoming heart to anyone she had met. She cherished her family and always wanted the best for her children. She had an infectious smile that would light up a room and we all enjoyed hearing her laugh. She was quite content just reading, enjoying her crossword puzzles and watching her daytime soap operas. She enjoyed eating her Entenmann's sweet rolls, Pepsi sodas, occasional Canai wine and her Benson and Hedges 100's cigarettes (Gold pack, had to be the gold pack) LOL.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her sisters Earline and Diane. She leaves behind her two sons Michael and Terence, daughter Melissa, son in law Donovan, daughters in law Alicia and Zanita, followed by her grandchildren Mishel, Donovan Jr, Terence Jr, Devin, Michael Jr, Donte, and Melanie. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Thank you. (Her son Terence "poochie" McCants)
