THE LIFE STORY OF

SARAH FRANCES PARRANT

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and

the Word was God. John 1:1 (NKJV)

May 3, 1928, began the precious life of Sarah Frances Parrant who

departed this life on September 9, 2026. She was blessed to be the fifth

of twelve children born to the late Thomas Lee and Lena Belle Everett who

predeceased her. Her brothers: Tom, William, Charles, Robert, David, and

sisters Helen Lewis, Laura Cole, Evelena Covington, and Rosa Lee Hicks,

also predeceased her. Sarah’s sister Oredia Woodberry and brother, Rev.

Dr. Thurman B. Everett continue to carry the flame for their family that

followed the paths set by the Lord and did not stray from it.

Sarah and her siblings were raised by their parents in a Christian home

where the foundation was laid regarding their strong unwavering

relationship with the Lord. Sarah shared with many that at the precious

age of just two years, doctors informed her mother that due to serious

health concerns, she would not have long to live. However her mother’s

faith rooted and grounded in the Lord; standing on His Promises, boldly

said: “Not So!” We here today can shout our “Hallelujahs,” because our

God allowed Sarah to live Ninety Eight Years, four months, and six

days! Now, as Sarah would say when thanking and praising the Lord:

“Yippee, What a Mighty God We Serve!”

She attended Leland Elementary School from Kindergarten through Eighth

grade, and continued her schooling at Williston High School located in

Wilmington, North Carolina where she graduated.

Sarah relocated to Philadelphia and began working for the Federal

Government at the Quarter Masters Depot Facility where she met and later

married John Henry Parrant. They became proud and loving parents of

their daughter, Sheron. John Henry Parrant was also the proud owner of a

Tailoring business. Working together in the Tailor Shop, she assisted him.

Together they were faithful dedicated workers for the Lord at Trinity

Baynton United Methodist Church. John Henry Parrant passed away in

1976.

Sarah possessed a passion for teaching children about the Lord. As a

Sunday School teacher she exposed them to reading God’s Word in the

Bible and encouraged many children in the neighborhood to regularly

attend Sunday School. She had a way of sharing the Word of God; making

it exciting for children to learn, remain attentive and interested. She taught

her favorite Sunday School Songs: “Jesus Loves Me,” “The B-I-B-L-E”

and “Jesus Loves the Little Children,” just to name a few. Many of the

children she taught - now as adults, remember her dedication to teaching

them about the Lord and appreciated her love for them. She exposed them

to the God for whom she served and made an impact and changed their

lives. She also was a Cub Scout Den Mother. Sarah also served as Sunday

School Superintendent, Christ Servant Minister, Worship Leader, member

of the Usher Board, Communion Steward, and member of the United

Methodist Women.

Additionally, she actively participated in community activities and had a

passion for helping adults to read. She utilized her talents at Emlen School

and assisted with the Adult Reading Program. Her personal extensive

library was located within the Church Lower building level and included

hundreds of books for all ages, subject matters, and well known authors.

Sarah was also a member of the Germantown Deaf Ministry where she

participated in their events especially the Annual Deaf Hearing Tea.

Sarah believed in eating healthy, and always looking your best. This was

evident in her 25 year career as a Weight Watcher’s Instructor. She also

enjoyed 26 years as an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay

Cosmetics. Over that period she continued touching and enriching lives.

Her radiant, energetic spirit was a pleasure to behold, even contagious.

Before Sarah’s health began to decline she volunteered her time for

Hospice, sharing her genuine love of caring for others whose life

expectancy was nearing the end. Her compassion and time spent with

sharing God’s love meant so much to those transitioning.

Sarah remained a faithful member of the United Methodist Church for well

over 60 years. Upon the closing of Servants of Christ UMC in February

2024, (formerly Trinity Bayton United Methodist Church, and Journey of

Faith). She began attending Bickley’s New Beginning United Methodist

Church. She was received by Bickley’s Church Family with an outpouring

of love.

Sarah’s favorite color was “Red,” reminding us of the blood shed by

Jesus on the Cross. Her favorite Bible Verse was John 3:16: “For God so

loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever

believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Sarah’s Qualities: Her love for the Lord; powerful presence which gained

respect, passion for the teaching and preaching of Jesus Christ.

Her enthusiasm: always willing to make a difference in the life of a child

gifting them stuffed animals with encouraging messages.

Sarah Parrant: A Prayer Warrior: She never compromised or wavered

in her faith. Always standing up for what’s right in the eyes of the Lord.

Always willing to extend a helping hand to anyone. Her compassion and

strength in ministering to those who were near their last days. The time

she spent sharing God’s love will not be forgotten.

Sarah planted many seeds in her 98 years of life. She enjoyed

watching flowers blossom ... and now we have the opportunity to look

back over her time on earth with us and thank God for her “Life, Legacy,

and the Impact” she made on us all!

Her precious and sustaining memory will forever live with her loving

daughter, Sheron; her sister, Oredia Woodberry; brother: Rev. Dr. Thurman

B. Everett; sister-in-law, Wilhelmenia;
