In Loving Memory of Steven Michael Lee August 18, 1984 – March 2, 2025
With profound sadness yet deep gratitude for his life, we announce the passing of Steven Michael Lee, who departed this world peacefully on March 2, 2025, after a courageous battle with an extended illness. Born on August 18, 1984, in Philadelphia, PA, Stevie was the beloved son of Steven and Kelly Lee and the youngest of their two children. From the very beginning, he embodied resilience, proving his strength at just 11 years old when he triumphed over leukemia. That victory set the foundation for a life defined by perseverance, honor, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved. Stevie received his formal education in private schools, attending Philmont Christian Academy for both secondary and high school. A dedicated student and natural athlete, he excelled in academics while also making his mark on the Philmont basketball team. Following graduation, he pursued higher education at Millersville State University, spending three years majoring in Biokinetics before answering a greater calling.
Determined to serve his country and follow in his father's footsteps, Stevie enlisted in the United States Navy midway through his studies. Over the course of six years, he served with distinction, specializing in global command and control systems operations. His time in the Navy was more than just a duty; it was a testament to his commitment, discipline, and love for his country. Though his military service was cut short due to illness, Stevie never lost his fighter's spirit. Despite facing numerous health challenges over the years, he never wavered in his faith, his honor, or his devotion to family. That was evidenced by his collection of t shirts, which embodied messages of hope and faith. One of his favorites was one that said" Sorry Devil, God's got Me." Even in the face of life-threatening illness, his humor remained intact. No matter how difficult things became, Stevie could still find a way to make people laugh, lightening even the heaviest moments with a well-placed joke or a playful smirk. His ability to bring joy in the midst of struggle was one of his greatest gifts, and it left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
What many may not have known about Stevie was that he was a true history buff. Whether it was athletics, politics or world events, Stevie had a remarkable knowledge of history and could recall and share incredible facts with ease. Conversations with him
were often sprinkled with little known facts and thought-provoking insights, proving that his mind was sharp, and his heart was big. His passion for history was not just about knowing dates and events, it was about understanding the lessons of the past and how they shaped the present. He had a way of making any discussion fascinating and those lucky enough to engage in one of his historical deep dives, knew they were in the presence of someone truly specials. A beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Stevie was a source of light, love, and unwavering support to everyone in his life. Among his most cherished relationships was the unbreakable bond he shared with his sister, Stephanie. Through every moment, she remained by his side, comforting him, holding him, and even washing his feet in his final days, a true testament to their unshakable love. Stephanie gave Stevie the greatest gift in life: his two children of the heart, Sara, and Darrell. Though they were his niece and nephew, Stevie loved and cared for them as his own, shaping their lives with his wisdom, kindness, and unconditional love.
But at the heart of Stevie's journey were his parents, Steven, and Kelly Lee, his fiercest warriors, his greatest protectors, and his strongest advocates. Their unwavering love and commitment never faltered, even when medical professionals hinted that they should have given up long ago. Giving up was never an option. They fought with him and for him, standing by his side through every battle, every setback, and every triumph. Their love and determination stunned doctors, who marveled at their persistence and devotion. They refused to stop fighting, until Stevie himself said, No more; And when that moment came, they honored his wishes, holding him close as he transitioned into eternal rest. Stevie's presence was a gift to all who knew him. His legacy of courage, kindness, resilience, and humor will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Rest easy, Stevie. Your fight is over, but your light will never fade. Words from Dad, "Stevie, I love you Bub and I will miss my best friend. I know God has you in heaven. I have you in my heart." "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." – 2 Timothy 4:7
