IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Taylor Alexis
Granston
December 30, 2001 – December 24, 2024
Life Story
Taylor Alexis Granston, born on December 30th, 2001 to Anika and Warren, was called home by God on December 24th, 2024. Taylor was blessed to have two sets of parents during her upbringing, to include Akil Dashields and Felicia Granston. Taylor was surrounded by her family, friends, and a team of caring healthcare professionals until her passing at Jefferson University Hospital.
Taylor attended Our Lady of Hope Catholic School and St. Martin de Porres Catholic School for elementary and grade school. After graduating from the eighth grade in 2016, Taylor attended Delaware Valley Charter High School and completed her academics at Finletter High School in 2020. Taylor was a dedicated, thriving nursing student, passionate about dreams of passing the NCLEX exam, becoming a NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) nurse, and eventually a travel nurse.
Taylor loved tropical weather and post high school graduation decided to move to Florida in 2022. While in Florida she pursued her nursing career and attended the City College of Florida, Altamonte Springs for two years. She poured her heart into her studies, embodying the compassion that defines a true caregiver. While in school, she worked full-time at Advent Healthcare System in addition to caring for elderly individuals in their homes.
Taylor loved to travel, frequent new restaurants, maintain her self-care routine, and work. She was known to be "on the go." Her favorite thing to do was hop on an airplane, destination: anywhere. She enjoyed tropical weather and beaches the most of all her travels. Taylor was our vacation planner for the family. She stayed ready so she didn't have to get ready. Her enthusiasm for life was evident in her love for food, travel and fashion. She also enjoyed going on excursions and getting the full experience of wherever she was. Her favorite meals to eat were Jamaican and seafood cuisines with a special love for red snapper. While she loved various cuisines, Taylor said many times, "the best thing about going home to Philly is getting Mommy's leftovers."
Taylor was also a true fashionista with a keen eye for the newest trends. Taylor had an incredible work ethic. Many of her patients adored her and would request Taylor specifically in their time of need. Since childhood, she was very independent and enjoyed being self-sufficient, allowing her to indulge in the things she enjoyed the most. To know Taylor is to know she was one of a kind. She was mature, loving, forgiving, compassionate, and a classy young individual. Taylor put others before herself many times out of love and kindness. She was a loving family member and a treasured friend, free spirited with a contagious beautiful smile. Family members viewed Taylor as a young matriarch of the family that kept everyone connected.
Taylor leaves to cherish in memory, parents; Anika and Akil Dashields; Warren and Felicia Granston, sisters; Victoria Nelson; Jasmine Dashields, nephew; Kyle Donaldson Jr, devoted cousins Naiya Johnson, Jessie Williams IV; grandparents and a host of aunts, uncles, extended family members and friends.
