Charles Life Story

Charles Gregory Gilbert Jr.,36, of Philadelphia PA (Erie Ave) died February 20, 2024 as a result of an Epileptic seizure followed by an Asthma attack at Temple University Hospital. Charlie or Chuck  as he was affectionately called by family and friends was born January 8, 1988 at Temple to Greg (Charles G Gilbert Sr.) and Tanya Banks. Raised by his Grandmother Barbara A. Gilbert  Known to all as Momma with assistance from his Father, Aunt Chrissy ( Crystal R.Jean) and Sisters  

Charles G Gilbert Jr. was preceded in death by his Momma Barbara A Gilbert, Grandmother Patricia Makell, Brother Derrick B Gilbert Smith, Uncle Timothy Gilbert, aunt Hazel Makell & Son Xavier Gilbert. Charlie was the oldest male child of Charles Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory His Father Charles G Gilbert SR. (Tanya Cromwell)  Tanya M Banks, oldest sister Tanya Marie Gilbert Perry (Michael) Sister Michelle Pj Gilbert Faison (Joseph) younger brother Koby Ray Gilbert. Aunts Sharon Gilbert Jones (Thomas) Crystal/chrissy Jean (Samuel). Barbara Makell Michelle Bank Uncles Johnny Ray Gilbert (Lucy)  Anthony Gilbert, Reginald Gilbert (Crystal) Two nephews Michael Jr.& Mason Perry. Special cousins Timothy Jones,Thomas Jones, Barbara Ballard Sullivin, Jessica Gilbert  Special Friend Jamel Rutledge & Godsons Kalem & Kashon Rutledge and a host of other Family members 

Charlie  was raised under the baptist faith and attended Zion Baptist in his youth. He also frequented Chosen Assembly with his aunt Cheryl and uncle West. Educated in the Philadelphia school system. Charlie attended Grover Cleveland Elementary, Elizabeth Gillespie Jr. High then  Simon Gratz H.S. After receiving his High school diploma Charlies attempted higher learning at Devry University but found that it was not a fit for him. 

Charlie worked several odd and fast food jobs over the years. Prior to being assisted with employment by his sister Michelle with Securitas Security Co. He worked a while then moved to a couple other security companies over the years. Charlie was currently employed by The University of Penn where he was a Parking attendant. Working towards his goal of earning his act 235 to obtain lethal weapon training, to start a career in Homeland Security. He found Security to be a fit.

Charlie lived his life on his own terms. Even when he received opposing opinions. He had many qualities that made him a child and man loved by many. He loved to laugh and could not tell a funny story or joke because his laughter kept him from telling it clearly.The last couple of years have been hard for Charlie with the loss of his Mom, Brother, and son. We seek peace in feeling Charlie is with the major loves of his life. He is gone but never will be forgotten
