Dawn Warren Obituary

Dawn was born January 23, 1970 to her wonderful parents Daisy Warren-Ross, her mother and Kenneth James, her father who preceded her in death.  Dawn was born and raised in Philadelphia, she grew up with family in west and north Philly. She was very intelligent and able to handle herself in the streets.  Dawn’s personality led to her being everybody’s big sister.  She was loyal and her love for you wasn’t something you had to question.  Family was everything to Dawn, she was crazy about the ones she held close to her heart.  Dawn loved the Lord and made sure the world around her knew about Jesus.

Dawn was a member of Mt. Calvary Family Worship Center.  She was God’s servant and spent many years caring and doing for others, as she worked in the healthcare profession.  Dawn loved music and attending concerts.  Her favorite rap artist was DMX. She was a foodie and she loved eating and hanging out with her friends and family.

In spite of battling cancer herself, Dawn would catch a ride to the cancer center and pray for others.  She ran an online support group and encouraged many to trust and believe in God during their battle with cancer. Dawn was a fighter! A warrior indeed and there was no quitting in her Spirit.  Today she would tell us all to trust in Jesus and to walk by faith and not by sight.  Dawn encouraged and touched many lives. She truly left her imprint on this world.

She leaves to cherish her memory;  her mother Daisy, her dad Michael, her brothers Billy and Amir, her Godsister Nykia, her sister Donna, her sister in-law Ariel, her nieces Iyana and Ilysha, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family and friends.

Prayer from DMX

First I thank you for the life of everyone that's here with me

Then I thank you for the love you give me,

Why? I don't know; I don't deserve it, and it hurts inside

Many a nights I cried, and called your name out loud

But didn't call you when I was doin good, I was too proud

And STILL you gave me love, I wasn't used to that

Most of the people that gave me love, they ended up takin it back

That's somethin new to me, so I'm askin you for time to adjust

Let me make it there, I will be one you can trust

What I stand for, I put my life on, I DO!

I guess what I'm askin is - show me how to stand for you
