Deshawn Benson Obituary

Deshawn Benson affectionately known as “Mack” was born April 24,1991 in  Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Jules Ross and the late Delores “Angel” Benson.  He was born and raised in Abbotsford Homes. Growing up friends called him  Mack for his smooth personality.

As a young child, Deshawn received his education in the Philadelphia school  system. He received his high school diploma from Thomas Edison where he  played football. He continued his education at Virginia Union University.

Deshawn was a member of the Light Brigade Indoor Color Guard, which was his  first passion. He spent 10 years competing in competitions across the United  States. While traveling, he built relationships that helped him gain a great work  ethic. He had a love for cars and bikes that led him to working as an Auto  technician at Jiffy Lube, AutoZone and also Pep Boys. Deshawn worked for Septa  and other paratransit companies transporting the Elderly and handicap Adults to  variety facility throughout Philadelphia and surrounding county. Deshawn was  Program Activity Assistance at Active Day Cheltenham Hill, where he was able to  display his creativity, caring and loving personality by interacting with the clients'  playing games, making jokes and transporting them to and from the facility.

He was very compassionate, and enjoyed laughing, dancing, and busting jokes  with peers. He loved to play 2k, and travel with friends, and most of all being a  family man. He consistently traveled to Maryland where he’d visited one of his  best friends Josh/Scoob. But importantly of all things his brother Dante, sister  Tayanna; and Makkah, he raised and loved as if she was his biological daughter,  was his biggest priority. Especially, after the passing of both his mother and  grandmother. Deshawn's ultimate goal besides family, was to own a Paratransit  company. He devoted his love and loyalty to taking care of others.
