Emma Amilia Owens was born to the late Robert & Everlina White on December 11, 1944 in Wilmington, North Carolina. Emma received her education in the North Carolina public school system. Emma live with her beloved Uncle Arthur Weeks & Aunt Emma (her name sake), after her parents and siblings moved to Philadelphia. She later joined her family in Philadelphia.
Emma accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior in 1951 under Pastor Benny Weston. She was baptized under Pastor Weston. She later became a member of Triumph Baptist Church under Pastor James S. Hall Jr. Emma always and trusted God and instilled his teachings upon her children and grandchildren.
Emma met the late Doctor Owens in 1969. In 1970 the two married and from this union two daughters were born. Tanya & Anika. Emma was an unselfish, loving, and classy lady. Small in stature but had the biggest heart. She was always a good person to talk to in your time of trouble, she would always give good advice. Her love for her children was unconditional. She sacrificed all she had for the sake of children and grandchildren. There's no one or nothing that came before Tanya & Anika. The love she had for grandchildren and great grandchildren was something beyond special. She held them close to her heart.
Emma was an entrepreneur at a very young age, she owned tow consignment shops. She later work for Genisis Elder Care until retirement in 2008. She was head strong and energetic and very independent. Emma loved to travel and was always dressed fabulous for her trips. Her home was always decorated and not a thing out of place. She loved nice elaborate things and anyone who knew Emma knew that her hair was always pressed to impress. Thanks to Shawn and Tina.
She leaves to cherish wonderful memories, Two daughters Tanya White Manson (Robert Manson), Anika McKeever (Matt McKeever), Grandchildren, Trennell Owens (Laynie Owens), Shantell Lee, Bershaun ,Alexis and Matt,. Great grandson, Kiyan Lee, Two sisters Peggy White and Maxine Saunders, Godchildren, Anaiah, Joy, Best friends Pat and Cynthia.
Preceeded her death two sisters, Ester and Lucille, 3 brothers Robert, James and William White.
