“My Lord, what a morning! “December 14, 1951, Gale Aletha Norris,
affectionately known as “GYGNER”, arrived to Odell Bartlett Sr. and
Luretha Bartlett in Williamsburg, Virginia.
On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom gently
closed the eyes of our beloved Gale and placed her in eternal rest. She
needed yet another flower for her garden so very quietly and
peacefully He choose Gale as His adornment.
Gale Aletha Norris was born on December 14, 1951 in Williamsburg
Virginia the daughter of Odell Bartlett Sr. and devoted mother Luretha
Bartlett. Gale was raised in Williamsburg Virginia and later moved to
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was affectionately known to her family
and friends as “Gygner”.
In 1967, Gale met Samuel Norris and was later married in 1969 this
union would bring forth one child Teresa Michelle Norris. In 1982, Gale
moved to Camden, New Jersey where she caught William Eugene
Davis’s eye, this led to many dates and after he won her heart Brandon
Karl Davis was born 1984. Loving and supporting a family became her
first priority yet the call to service would once again resonate.
Gale was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System where she
graduated. A precocious child Gale excelled in almost everything she
did.
Full filling her long-life mission, Gale began foster children (10) while
teaching for the Camden City School District until she retired.
Well-known for dressing, shopping, partying, gift of gab, and changing
furniture around often. Her famous lines she always used was “I’M
READY EDDIE; NOW EDDIE; LET’S GO EDDIE, and TRUST AND BELIEVE!
Gale is survived by her long-life companion Edward Hill, one daughter
Teresa Norris, two sons Brandon Davis (Cynethia Davis); and Arron
Davis (Shavon Davis); eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Forever remembered by her siblings Odell Bartlett Jr. (Shelia Bartlett),
Darren Bartlett (Nicole Bartlett), Jacqueline Williams (Alan Williams),
and Cheryl Burt (James Burt); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,
and friends. GYGNER will be greatly missed by all.
