William Henry Albany passed away on January 30, 2021. William will be truly missed by his family and friends.

William Henry Albany's Obituary will be updated at a later date.

Please keep the family in prayer.William Henry Albany was born in Allendale, S.C. He was the youngest and was the last
living of the five children born to the late Richard and Mary Bryant Albany. Educated in
Allendale, he attended Harden Academy Elementary School, was a 1941 graduate of
Allendale High School and later studied at South Carolina State University. As a young boy,
in Allendale, he joined Beautiful Gate Baptist Church, where he was baptized and gave his
life to the Lord.
William enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served four years, stationed on a submarine
called the USS Corporal, whose home base was Key West, Fla. He later reenlisted in the
Navy in 1949.and served another four years, earning a Good Conduct Medal, before
receiving an Honorable Discharge on December 3, 1953.
Bill married the late Verthelia V. Neeley on June 20, 1954. The couple relocated to
Philadelphia and were blessed with three children, Elishama, Lisa and Troy. The family
moved to Yeadon, Pa., in 1967.
An honest, hardworking man, Bill was employed by the Chilton Company, retiring in 1986,
and then worked for the Presbytery of Philadelphia for many years. William had a good sense
of humor, always tried to be honest and fair and was a good friend and father. His children
often laughingly recall that while growing up, their father meant business and never had to
repeat what he asked them to do. William was a spry man, a snappy dresser and a great cook,
famous for his sweet potato pie. A man with great inner strength, he lived alone, cooked for
himself and continued to drive until his recent illness.
A longtime member of the Presbytery, William was a dedicated trustee and deacon at Reeve
Memorial Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia, and later faithfully attended Yeadon
Presbyterian Church. He dedicated his life to serving the Lord.
In addition to his children, Elishama Albany, Lisa Albany-Myles, and Troy Albany; he leaves
to mourn, a daughter in law, Virginia Albany; two grandchildren, Kellie Myles and Dakota
Myles; two nieces, Philipia Mack and Gilda Grant (John); a nephew, Wade Albany Jr.; dear
friends, Naval nurse, (ret.) Captain Julia Barnes, and Alma Stead, and a host of loving family
and friends.
