Willis Harrison Jr. was born on August 4, 1948 in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. Willis was raised by the late Willis Sr. and Eula Harrison. Willis
was the fifth child of thirteen children. Willis departed this life on Thursday
January 14, 2021.
Willis received his education in the Philadelphia School District. Willis
graduated from Thomas Edison High in June 1966. Willis enlisted into the United
States Navy and served from 1996 until 1970 where he was stationed in
Charleston, South Carolina.
Willis first job after returning home from the US Navy was Bayuk Cigar
Factory in the early 70’s. By trade Willis Harrison became an Electrician. He
worked for the Strawbridge and Clothier Store for fifteen years. He also worked
for Alan Carroll and himself on independent contracted jobs.
Willis took Constance Lowery to be is lawful wedded wife on December 19,
1970 and from this union they were blessed with three children.
Willis was also called Big Will or Will by his friends and family. His
longtime friends were Teddy, Alfred and Arnold Hanies, Mr. Thomas, Alan
Carroll, and Anthony Duffy. He had a larger-than-life personality. He would walk
into a room and instantly made his present known. Willis had a loud and boisterous
voice. He wore a sly grin when he was about to be mischievous. He would give
family and friends nicknames or certain saying to tease them. Willis enjoyed
watching Old Western movies, Star Trek, Jerry Springer, Maury, the evening
news, and sports. Willis spent summer down in Aiken, South Carolina when he
was younger and continue to visit for his annual Thanksgiving vacations. Willis
love going to family gatherings.
Willis leaves to cherish his memories: three children; Oneeka (Ne-Ne),
Thais (Ty), Willis (Will); seven grandchildren Syreik, Tyreik (Peanut), Taheim
(Butter), Jaide, Cavon, Milan (Muffin), and Jayceon (Munch) seven sibling Betty
(Walter), Dorothy, Elizabeth, Leroy (Karen), Beverly, Ilene (David), and Annette,
one aunt; Ruth Odem. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Sorrowfully
